Sampada VR Speciality Eye Care is the first centre in the Malabar region dedicated to vitreoretinal disease, on Railway Station Bypass Road, Thazhepalam, a few minutes from Tirur railway station.
Sampada VR sits on Railway Station Bypass Road in Thazhepalam, a few minutes from Tirur railway station and the bus stand. It opened in December 2020 to give the Malabar region something it did not have: a centre focused entirely on diseases of the retina and vitreous, so that patients no longer had to travel to a distant city for a specialist opinion.
Patients come to us from Tirur, Tanur, Kottakkal, Valanchery and Parappanangadi, and from further afield in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Palakkad and Thrissur. The centre is a boutique consultation and surgery space, designed for comfort, with particular care for elderly patients and premature babies, who have the most to gain from an unhurried, gentle setting.
The name carries the idea. “Sampada” is heritage and wealth; “VR” stands for vitreoretina and for the virtual-reality and AI tools we are exploring for screening. Our logo is drawn from the three zones of the retina used in retinopathy of prematurity screening.
Dr. Sameera leads every retinal case at Sampada VR, from diabetic retinopathy and retinal detachment to macular disease and retinopathy of prematurity. Her training and career span some of India’s best-known retina and eye institutes.
Most retinal decisions depend on imaging. We keep the key instruments in-house so a scan, a test and a treatment plan can happen in a single visit.
