Dr. Sameera embarked on her medical journey with an MBBS, followed by a specialization in Ophthalmology from the revered Calicut Medical College. Her dedication to her craft led her to pursue long-term fellowships in Vitreoretinal Surgery and Anterior Segment Surgery at the prestigious MM Joshi Eye Institute and AFEH, Palakkad. Further enriching her expertise, she received specialized training in Retinal Lasers at the acclaimed Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai.
Beyond her clinical prowess, Dr. Sameera’s career is marked by her visionary leadership and relentless pursuit of excellence. Before steering Sampada VR Specialty Eye Care towards becoming a beacon of hope and innovation in the Malabar region, Dr. Sameera refined her skills and knowledge as a Consultant Phaco and Retina Surgeon at MM Joshi Eye Institute, Hubli, Karnataka, and Maxivision Eye Hospital, Hyderabad. Her tenure as the head of the Vitreo Retinal Department across three branches of Rayhan Eye Hospital, Kerala, underscored her capability to lead, innovate, and inspire.
As a life member of esteemed organizations such as the Indian Medical Association and the Vitreo Retinal Society of India, and with affiliations to international associations like the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology, Dr. Sameera’s contributions to the field of ophthalmology are globally recognized. Her role as Secretary of the Women Doctors Wing (WDW) of IMA at Tirur exemplifies her commitment to community and professional development.
Dr. Sameera’s academic contributions include presentations at prestigious international and national forums, recognition for her research, and active participation in groundbreaking clinical trials, notably as a co-investigator for the Phase 3 trial of Biosimilar Ranibizumab in India. Her innovative use of the Micro pulse laser in treating macular pathologies since its introduction in India positions her at the cutting edge of retinal care.
